Gearing a paladin Empty Gearing a paladin

Having played my pally for about a month now, I have a pretty good grasp on the kind of gear you are going to want. You'll want at least 2, and possibly 4 different gear sets. I'll start with the easiest.

    Stam set:
    Green Tinted Goggles (100 hp)
    Scout's Medallion
    Talbar Mantle
    Tranquillien Champion's Cloak (70 armor)
    Blackened Defias Armor (100 hp)
    Steel-Clasped Bracers (9 stamina)
    ______ Gloves of the Eagle/Monkey/Bear* (15 agility)**
    Girdle of the Blindwatcher
______ Leggings of the Eagle/Monkey/Bear*** (Nethercleft)
    Savage Trodders (7 stamina)
    Seal of Sylvanas
    Blood Ring

    * - need 4/4 mail gloves
** - the agility gives you dodge; you can substitute 7 strength (block) or 16 spell power (healing) as you see fit
    *** - need 5/5 mail legs

This gear set is designed to give you the most health possible without fishing gear. It will boost your health by 1,520, most of which is also buffed by kings!

    Healing Set
    Shadow Goggles (8 intellect / 150 mana / 8 spell power)
    Scout's Medallion
    Talbar Mantle
    Battle Healer's Cloak (70 armor)
    Inferno Robe (+6 all stats)
    Crystalline Cuffs (15 spell power)
    Gold-Flecked Gloves (16 spell power)
    Girdle of the Blindwatcher
    Darkweave Breeches (Golden/Runic Spellthread)
    Savage Trodders (Minor Speed Increase)
    Lavishly Jeweled Ring
    Advisor's Ring

This gear set gives you a fair amount of mana, but is extremely heavy on the spell power. In my personal experience, I find a set like this to be optimal for healing with. It will give you up to 114 spell power and up to 760 mana. You can, of course, put 150 mana on your chest, switch the Crystalline Cuffs for Mindthrust Bracers, shove 7 intellect on them, and end up with an extra 270 mana at the cost of spell power and health, but it's up to you.

    Ret Set
    Green Tinted Goggles (100 hp)
    Scout's Medallion
    Serpent's Shoulders
    Subterranean Cape (3 agility)
Armor of the Fang (100 hp)
    Cavedweller Bracers (9 strength)
    Thorbia's Gauntlets (7 strength)
    Cobrahn's Grasp
______ Leggings of the Bear (Nethercobra)
    Silver-Linked Footguards (7 agility)
    Legionnaire's Band
    Seal of Sylvanas

This set gives you enough health to stay alive while you tear through the alliance. When crusader pops, you'll be 1-hitting people left, right and center!

    Hybrid Set
    Green Tinted Goggles (100 hp)
    Scout's Medallion
    Talbar Mantle
    Battle Healer's Cloak (70 armor)
Armor of the Fang (100 hp)
    Crystalline Cuffs (15 spell power)
    Gold-Flecked Gloves (16 spell power)
    Girdle of the Blindwatcher
______ Leggings of the Eagle (Nethercleft)
    Savage Trodders (Minor Speed Increase)
    Seal of Sylvanas
    Lavishly Jeweled Ring

This is the set I am currently using, and it works well for me. I don't have to switch between dps and healing gear, as this does both moderately well. It also has enough hp for me to be a decent flag carrier. The spell power also manages to help your dps, provided you use ret aura (USE RET AURA!)

    Weapons + Shields
    Butcher's Slicer (22 intellect)
    Butcher's Slicer (30 spell power)
    Butcher's Slicer (Crusader)
    Night Reaver (Crusader)
    Redbeard Crest (7 stamina)
    Arctic Buckler (7 stamina)

Yes, I know I have 3 Butcher's Slicers up there. That is simply because it is the best available 1h sword for a paladin besides any BoA gear or Shadowfang. So start grinding SFK!
You can, of course, substitute other weapons; there are some decent maces out there too Smile

Hope this gives you an idea of what you should be looking for for a paladin! You don't need all of the gear I've listed here of course, but it gives you an idea as to how versatile you can be!

    Have fun!
